Pediatric Podiatry

Pediatric Podiatry

Paediatric podiatry focuses on the assessment and treatment of children’s feet, walking patterns, posture and lower-limb development. Children may need a podiatry assessment if they experience foot, ankle, knee, hip or lower back pain that may be related to lower-limb biomechanics, frequent tripping, unusual walking patterns, flat feet, in-toeing, out-toeing or difficulty keeping up with activity.

Our approach is gentle, age-appropriate and focused on helping parents understand what is normal, what may need monitoring, and when treatment may be helpful.

Developmental & Movement Assessment

We assess your child’s lower-limb development, walking pattern and movement quality to help identify whether they are progressing appropriately for their age and stage of growth.

We assess:

Our Assessment Process

Children’s Gait & Movement Analysis

We assess how your child moves from the hip to the toes to identify any developmental, postural or biomechanical factors that may be affecting comfort, function or activity.

01

Child-Friendly Assessment

We assess your child in a gentle and age-appropriate way, including their walking, posture, balance, foot position and areas of pain or concern.

02

Issue Identification

We identify possible causes such as flat feet, in-toeing, out-toeing, poor balance, growth-related pain, muscle tightness or lower-limb alignment concerns.

03

Gentle Treatment & Support

Where needed, we provide practical treatment options such as footwear advice, exercises, stretching, strengthening, activity guidance or orthotic therapy.

04

Monitoring & Parent Guidance

We explain our findings clearly and provide guidance on whether your child needs treatment, monitoring or review as they grow.

Heel Pain & Growing Pains

Heel pain and lower-limb discomfort are common in active, growing children and can affect sport, play and daily activities. Pain should not simply be dismissed as “just growing pains,” especially if it is ongoing, one-sided, worsening or limiting activity.

How this helps:

Flat Feet & Postural Concerns

Flat feet can be normal in many children, but some children may experience pain, fatigue, poor balance or difficulty with activity. We assess whether your child’s foot posture is appropriate for their age or whether treatment or monitoring may be helpful.
